Translated as ‘Abode of Love’ and named after the fabled Mughal Gardens in Srinagar built by Emperor Jahangir for his wife Nur Jahan, this shawl is an exquisite rendition of a classic design favoured by Mughal royalty. Woven in luxuriously thick towel weave, panels of elaborate paisley and floral motifs are hand painted onto the cashmere, before being further enhanced by intricate sozni embroidery. The result is a wonderfully textured, luminous and jewel-like mosaic

Our hand painted designs are inspired by the traditional art of Kalamkari (qalam means pen and kari means craftmanship) which originated in Persia and is still produced in parts of Iran and India. Elaborate designs are expertly hand painted onto the cashmere by skilled artisans and further embellished using traditional techniques of Kashmiri embroidery (either sozni or aari – chainstitch). The painting and embroidery of each piece takes around 4 months to complete.
